Composition and Colour for Painters

From Seurat to Matisse to Riley

For Oxford Summer School

For beginners and practising painters who are familiar with the basics of colour mixing and want ’to use colour better’. You will develop your ability to play with colour, how to place it alongside others for greater effect and how much to use to create interesting and dynamic compositions. You will work to unpick some of the theory behind planning a good composition in colour followed by an opportunity to apply what you have learnt. You will be guided by your tutor at all times. Some activities will be the same as those covered in 2018 and others will be altered or extended to cater for both new and returning students..
